ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Alli, and I run Thrive Canine!

I've been teaching weekly manners classes since 2016 and running my own business since 2021. Through my business Thrive Canine, I work predominantly with aggressive and reactive dogs.

Here's why:

I share my home with three border collies, Cooper (born 2014), Atlas (born 2019), and Flynn (born 2021). Two of my border collies have severe aggression and reactivity problems - you name it, I've educated myself and worked through it personally:

- reactivity towards dogs, people, cars, bikes, motorbikes, joggers, children;
- aggression towards people, dogs;
- owner-directed aggression;
- intrahousehold aggression (fighting between two dogs in the same home);
- resource guarding food, objects, space; and
- redirected aggression (turning around and attacking a person, dog or object when upset by something else).

When I first experienced these issues, I was completely alone. No one around me seemed to know how to help my dogs, and I was never referred to a professional trainer - eep!

Thrive Canine exists because I want to help people whose lives are being torn apart by their dog's behaviour problems. In particular:

- I am passionately force free and believe the best way to stop unwanted behaviour is to address the underlying cause (usually intense emotion or pain), helping the dog and therefore helping their human.
- I believe the mental health of my human clients is VERY important, and do my best to monitor their well-being on an ongoing basis.
- I am committed to ongoing education not just for myself, but for vets and vet staff, puppy school program co-ordinators and dog clubs - the initial and sometimes only touching points for most first time dog owners.
