Build It (for them) and They Will Come

Presented by Veronica Boutelle & Gina Phairas

This talk is about getting clients and students. But not just any clients and students. It’s about the joy of working with clients and students you love– the ones who are the perfect fit for you, the ones who light you up and give you energy instead of draining it. The ones who respect your expertise and your policies, who follow your instructions, who are actively willing to invest the time and energy and money necessary to reach their training goals, even if those investments are a stretch.

In this talk dogbiz coaches Gina Phairas and Veronica Boutelle share the 4 keys to drawing those perfect-fit clients to your door. Don’t worry if marketing isn’t your thing, because this isn’t your typical marketing talk. Getting more of your perfect clients isn’t as simple as that.

Let’s talk about building your business for your perfect clients. And let’s talk about building a business that’s perfect for you, too– one that allows you to fully enjoy your life as a R+ dog trainer.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn to rethink several common assumptions about successful dog   training businesses
  • Understand the sometimes surprising factors that influence potential    clients’ and students’ decision making
  • Learn 4 keys to building a R+ dog training business that is sustainable      and enjoyable for the long-term, that draws motivated clients, and sets  those clients (and their trainer) up for success

      About The Presenter

Veronica Boutelle, MA Ed, CTC and Gina Phairas, Bsc Comms, CTC are the founders of dogbiz, through which they and their team have been helping +R dog trainers enjoy successful businesses and live their best lives since 2003.

Veronica is the author of several books, including How to Run a Dog Business: Putting Your Career Where Your Heart Is. She writes regular business columns for multiple industry journals worldwide. Gina is a former San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers instructor, teaching alongside Jean Donaldson. She has spent most of the last two decades supporting R+ dog trainers on the business side of their work.

Sought-after conference and seminar speakers, Veronica and Gina love the opportunity to help +R dog trainers around the world build their business skills and make a solid living helping more dogs. They are Clicker Expo faculty members, created the Karen Pryor Academy business curriculum, and are regular conference and seminar speakers. Veronica also speaks around the world, including multiple stops in Australia.

Gina’s and Veronica’s backgrounds as trainers, their business expertise, and their work as educators place them in a unique position to help professional +R trainers become as skilled in business as they are with dogs—and that means more dogs’ lives touched by positive training.

Toward fulfilling that mission Veronica and Gina offer a wide array of business support services and products, most notably dogbiz’ flagship THRIVE! group coaching program.
