Assistance Animals - An Introduction to Context, Law & the Sector

This webinar will be a brief introduction to the world of assistance animals – from the perspective of the humans, the law and guidelines that allow handlers to navigate and access public life.
We will cover the basics of definitions in law, accreditation verses owner training or supported training, and discuss the rights and responsibilities of assistance animal handlers and the public places and spaces that serve them.

Understand the legal differences between assistance animals, therapy animals and companion animals
Recognise the major pieces of legislation that protect and define an assistance animal and their human
Understand the different ways that an assistance animal may become “lawful” in Australia with their handler
About The Presenter
Lisa is a leading advocate and voice in the Assistance Animal space, educating and delivering supports to public, corporate and private clients to advance the accessibility and understanding about assistance animals and their humans She supporting individual assistance dog handlers, with their trainers, to fully access public life, places and spaces
Lisa is a regular speaker and presenter to businesses, community groups and charities, advancing the understanding of law, and accessibility.
She has a Professional background in health, business, education and advocacy and is a retired Paramedic and Airforce Reserve Officer.
Lisa is the human companion of Assistance Dog Lilly.
